Erica Gomez, a Rocky Mountain native, graduated from Metropolitan State University of Denver in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, Theory and Criticism. She worked as a curatorial intern at SOMArts Cultural Center writing exhibition reviews, essays, and interviewing artists. With a particular fondness for photography and film, as a writer, Erica explores the intersections of visual and popular culture while examining notions surrounding lesbian visibility, representation, and desire, in addition to race, accessibility, and feminist studies. Considering artworks by Deborah Bright and Tina Fiveash, her previous written work studied the relationship between desire and spectatorship as a shift toward positive representation and visibility in visual culture.
